Transferable Skills Letter

Server in restaurant seeking entry-level nutritionist position.
In correlation with my nutrition coursework, I have employed customer-service skills in the restaurant field. In my most recent position I was able to incorporate interpersonal skills with both my customers and my fellow employees and worked as a team. I adapted to the environment and was able to manage multiple priorities. I endeavor to continue to use these transferable skills in your company in the nutritionist position you have available.

Skills Assessment

In the first assessment I discovered that I have no skills beyond writing and speaking, which I do moderately well.

In the book I determined (through a great deal of trouble and deep penetrating thought) that the three skills I enjoy are observing (other people), reading, and writing. I preform (sort of well) observing, organizing, and key boarding. I would like to develop a great deal of skills, including my analytical and research skills, as well as problem solving and my communication skills, mainly listening. I would also like to learn how to collaborate, synthesize and research more effectively. My plan for developing my skills is pretty vague beyond just pushing myself, and  I really need some guidance.

I learned from these assessments that I am not very skilled and have a great deal of work to do in order to be sought after, much less wanted in the workforce. There were a few careers that my skills might lead to that I was actually interested in, including zoologist and wildlife biologists, and a dietitian and/or nutritionist.  I do know that I love animals and would like to work with them somehow, I'm just not sure exactly what yet.

Top Ten Values Paper

1.       Happiness:  I value being content in what I do.
2.       Environment: I love my surroundings and the beauty in nature.
3.       Peace of Mind: Having freedom from conflict in my mind, my life and my career are very important to me.
4.       Comfort: Being able to relax, live with ease, and pleasure mean a great deal to me.
5.       Independence:  Having the freedom to make my own choices and not be ordered around is ideal.
6.       Creativity: I am a very creative person (or so I like to think).
7.       Pleasure: being able to enjoy myself is key.
8.       Beauty: I appreciate nice things, including those around me.
9.       Stability: Knowing that I will have a stable income is very important to me.
10.   Security: Not being afraid of my surroundings or what will happy to be is very important.
All of my values correlate with each other that I want to be happy and content in my career.  I don’t think that these values will change very much in the future, if at all because I have been this way my whole life.

Mission Statement

To find value in creativity, happiness, contentment, and peace of mind in a career and life, and ultimately discover myself.
